The Races around Sevlievo

Devetashko Plateau Cup

Over the weekend of 24–26 May, the traditional races around Sevlievo took place – the Devetashko Plateau Cup and the Ideal Standard Cup. The Devetashko Plateau Cup was held on the 24 May public holiday, and our team's strong performance earned us second place in the overall team standings. Nikolay Danchev and Mihail Kovachev were the fastest in their classes – M12 and M16. Misho was running up a class and was still the fastest, finishing ahead of another member of our team – Georgi Mitsov.

Rosen Hristov was also running up a class, in M18, and finished second after making a big mistake in the middle of the course. In the elite classes and in M50, Mariyana Atanasova, Apostol Atanasov and Aleksandar Atanasov also took second place.

Kristiyan Petkov (M12) and Radoslav Petkov on the Open course also earned excellent top-3 finishes.

Ideal Standard Cup

The Ideal Standard Cup was held over 2 days – 25 and 26 May – but unfortunately not all of our athletes were able to run both races. Kristiyan Petkov and Rosen Hristov were the fastest in their classes – M12 and M18. Rosen also won the first stage, while Kris was second after day 1. In M16, Alexander Genov made the podium for the first time, finishing 2nd after a good run on the second day. In M50, Aleksandar Atanasov was 3rd after the first day but moved up one place in the second stage to finish second. Borislav Karaboev also had a strong second day, which lifted him onto the podium in 3rd place, and on the Open course Kaloyana Genovska put together 2 steady runs and was 3rd both after the first stage and in the final standings.

Among the athletes who made strong starts on the first day but were unable to take part on the second were 2 of our elite runners – Apostol Atanasov convincingly won the first day, and Yana Ilieva was 2nd in her first race of the year.
