Easter Cup

From 18 to 21 April, the traditional Easter Cup orienteering event was held in the Targovishte region. The organisers from SKO Variant 5 prepared technical courses in varied terrain with runnable forest. The event attracted hundreds of orienteers from all over Bulgaria and abroad, and the four races on the programme tested both the speed and the precision of the competitors. Entry fees for all competitors up to and including MW16 were covered by the Swiss association Variant 5, which allowed more children to take part.

The programme began on 18 April with a mass start that delivered a dynamic race from the very first metres. On 19 April came one of the few classic long-distance races in Bulgaria, with interesting long legs that tested both endurance and quick thinking in route choice between controls. The third day, 20 April, was devoted to an urban sprint in the centre of the village of Palamartsa, where high running speed and staying focused were key to success. The Easter Cup finished on 21 April with a middle distance in technical forest terrain with fine orienteering and plenty of changes of direction.
